All About Almonds

Iron - In just a 1 ounce serving, you get 6 percent of your daily iron requirements. Iron helps oxygen travel through your body and is an essential nutrient.

Zinc - In one ounce of almonds there is 6 percent of your recommended daily needs for zinc. Zinc aids in healing wounds and in metabolizing protein. Zinc is important to the reproductive system.

Copper - Almonds are a source of copper. This mineral carries oxygen throughout the body and helps keep your bones, blood vessels and nerves healthy. It also protects against heart disease.

Almond Milk

1/4 Cup Raw Almonds

1 Cup Cold Water

2 teaspoons pure maple syrup or stevia

Start by blanching the almonds by adding them to a large pan with a 1/2 inch of boiling water in it.

Let them sit as it boils for 30 seconds. Drain and peel the skins off.

Place the blanched almonds in a blender with 1 cup of cold water.

Run the blender at high speed for 3 to 4 minutes or until a thick, white milk is formed.

Strain it through a fine sieve into a clean jar.
